Jason Matuszewski brings a wealth of experience in strategic operations planning and technical projects management from his rigorous technical background. His diverse expertise includes continuous process improvement, training and development programs, regulatory compliance and best practices implementation, and advanced problem solving. He began his career as a technical engineer working for Adecco at SC Johnson in 2009, where he developed comprehensive maintenance plans to support manufacturing processes at scale. He then transitioned to manufacturing and quality engineering for major organizations, including ATI Ladish Forging, Nemak, and HUSCO International, where he spearheaded process design and implementation, solved complex supply-chain and manufacturing problems, and improved product sourcing and purchasing. His philanthropic work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation sparked an interest in biotech, leading him to co-found BioStem Technologies in 2014. As CEO he has leveraged his expertise to optimize tissue sourcing, strategically build out a 6,000 square foot tissue processing facility that is fully compliant with FDA 210, 211, 1271, and AATB standards, and put together an expert team of professionals to support the company’s continued growth. Jason holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minor in Mathematics from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and is Six Sigma Black Belt certified. He also serves as a Processing and Distribution Council Member for the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), as well as serves as a member of the Government Affairs committee for BioFlorida. He was chosen as Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of The Year 2025 Florida award winner, by an independent panel of past winners, top CEOs, private equity and venture capital investors and business leaders. Judges assessed candidates on long-term value creation, entrepreneurial spirit, purpose-driven commitment and significant growth and impact.

Andrew Van Vurst, CTBS
Chief Operating Officer
Andrew Van Vurst is an armed forces veteran and manufacturing operations expert with over eight years of experience working in FDA-regulated pharmaceutical and tissue processing firms. Before beginning his biopharmaceutical career, Andrew served as an aviation mechanic and flight captain in the United States Marine Corps. His military background instilled a high level of discipline, a strong commitment to compliance with industry protocol, and a paradigm for effective leadership that has served him well in subsequent roles. He co-founded Biostem Technologies in 2014 and played a pivotal role in the development of the company, working to establish revenue streams, ensure compliance with FDA and state pharmacy board guidelines, and adhere to FINRA and SEC guidelines for eventual public listing. During the early years with BioStem Technologies, he worked as Director of Operations for Nesvik Pharmaceuticals and Qualified Pharma Ingredients, where he managed research and development activities for four 505(b)(2) products and built out an API repackaging facility from the ground up until 2019. Throughout these roles, he brought several compounds from the idea phase to pre-IND submission and eventually sold the API repackaging business. Today as COO, he continues to oversee lab production and quality assurance operations, supporting Biostem’s excellence in tissue processing. Andrew studied at Florida Gulf Coast University and has completed Landmark Courses to hone advanced leadership skills. He serves as a Processing and Distribution Council Member for the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and is an AATB-certified Tissue Banking Specialist.

Brandon Poe
Chief Financial Officer
Brandon Poe is a veteran executive with more than 25 years of financial experience across various industries, including life sciences, medical devices and healthcare. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Midi Health, a leader in women’s healthcare; CFO of Jumpcode Genomics, a genomic tools company; and CFO at Genome Medical, a genomic telehealth provider. Brandon has also held the positions of Vice President of Finance at Illumina, the leader in genomics technology; CFO at Sotera Wireless, a medical device start-up; and Vice President of Finance at Inverness Medical Innovations, a point-of-care diagnostics company acquired by Abbott. Brandon received his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and his MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

Barry Hassett
Chief Commercial Officer
Barry Hassett is a seasoned commercial leader with experience in marketing, medical education, market access, and sales within the medical device and biotechnology markets. He has worked across a variety of sectors, including biologics, surgical implants, and capital equipment, in B2B, B2C, and D2C selling. His expertise spans advanced wound care, orthopedics, ophthalmology, vascular surgery, oncology, and respiratory care. Barry has successfully launched disruptive technologies in many of these sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer for CAIRE Inc. in the respiratory market, where he led marketing, customer service, and sales for a $220M portfolio of products. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Marketing for BioTissue, where he successfully expanded their regenerative technology into the advanced wound care and surgical markets before ultimately taking responsibility for the entire portfolio. Barry has also held executive marketing roles at Carticept Medical (SonoSite), CardioMEMS, Davita, and Proxima Therapeutics (Cytyc). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and a Master of Science in Bioengineering from Dartmouth College.

Michael Fortunato, CPA
Chief Accounting Officer
Michael Fortunato spent 11 years at “Big 4” accounting firms having served clients within the health and life sciences industries. He spent almost seven years with the SEC’s Enforcement Division, San Francisco Regional Office where he monitored SEC registrant compliance with SEC rules and regulations for companies located from Northern California to Washington State. Michael also held various technical accounting and SEC reporting roles with major technology companies located within the SF Bay Area. He has participated in six IPOs including Alibaba’s $22 billion initial public offering. Michael holds a B.S. in accounting from Rutgers University and an active CPA license in the State of Florida.

Noah Agron
Vice President of Corporate Finance and Strategy
An executive with 18 years of Wall Street experience on both the buy and sell-side, Noah Agron joined BioStem to oversee the company’s corporate strategy and capital markets efforts. Previously, Noah was Managing Member of Black Brook Capital Management, his Family Office, where he worked closely with investment banks and equity/debt capital markets desks on public and private market transactions from the buy-side, utilizing his deep knowledge of ECM/DCM structuring and capital formation. Before Black Brook, Noah was an Equity Shareholder at Gilford Securities’ investment banking division, where he led sell-side public and privately held company mandates for the firm, including Keystone Heart’s Series B funding round led by OrbiMed. Noah holds an MBA from the University of Denver with a concentration in management and a BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Wendy W. Weston, PhD, CTBS
Vice President of Research and Development
Dr. Wendy Weston’s research career began in California with studies on muscle regeneration following spinal cord injury and muscle development in sub-ideal conditions (e.g., space flight).She then began working on bone regeneration at Loma Linda VA. Dr. Weston relocated to Florida to investigate hematopoietic stem cell characteristics and self-renewal in response to micro-environmental factors. Here, she earned her PhD in Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Interest in stem cell microenvironments led to studies at the Miami VA on the healing effect of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) exosome and growth factor delivery. Successes in MSC work expanded her interest in the mechanisms of allograft healing in healthy and damaged environments. She was recruited to the biotech sector by Vivex Biomedical for work at the University of Miami Tissue Bank where Dr. Weston’s innovation and leadership in product development resulted in highly effective products and multiple patents. She was offered the opportunity to continue her research at the very impressive, well-equipped Cell Therapy Institute at Nova Southeastern University. This allowed her to expand to the evaluation of microvesicles in sarcoma initiation and progression for the purpose of biomarker elucidation. While at NSU, she served the Medical School (NSU MD) on the Curriculum Committee, Pre-clerkship Committee and as the Genomics Thread Director. Her consulting activities in the biotechnology space resulted in strong and prosperous relationships with several companies where she has enjoyed the development and characterization of products for market use. As a member of the American Association of Tissue Banks and a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist, she has served as Vice Chair of Bylaws and Ethics and sits on the Living Donor Council. She has presented internationally and serves as a reviewer for several publications. To date, Dr. Weston has 14 granted patents. Dr. Weston’s role as Vice President of Research and Development for BioStem Technologies is optimizing and patenting the regenerative and healing capacity of birth tissues in various tissue microenvironments. She has fueled the development of some new products and facilitated the optimization of others, intent on honoring the gift of birth tissue and healing those in dire need by producing the most effective, safe products possible.

Jeff Humke
Vice President of Human Resources
Jeff Humke joined BioStem Technologies in 2025 as Vice President of Human Resources, bringing with him over 25 years of experience leading and transforming HR functions across the life sciences and biotechnology sectors. His extensive expertise spans the full spectrum of people operations, including project and performance management, organizational development, talent acquisition, compensation strategy, HR technology implementation, and employee relations. Prior to joining BioStem, Jeff held executive HR leadership roles at Akron Biotechnology and at various divisions of The Stronach Group, Ltd., where he played a pivotal role in aligning HR initiatives with corporate growth strategies. Earlier in his career, he advanced through several HR roles at Nabi Biopharmaceuticals, building a strong foundation in employee engagement and operational excellence. Jeff holds both Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health care administration and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR). His leadership and contributions to the HR field have been recognized by South Florida Business and Wealth Magazine and the South Florida Manufacturers Association. He has also served as President of the BioFlorida HR Association, where he championed talent development and industry collaboration across Florida’s life sciences community.

Katherine Gorrell
Chief Legal and Compliance Officer
Katherine Gorrell is an accomplished legal and compliance executive with extensive experience advising healthcare and health technology companies on complex regulatory, operational, and corporate governance matters. As Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, she oversees the legal, compliance, and medical affairs functions and plays a central role in enterprise governance. Katherine brings deep experience in health law, regulatory, transactional, compliance, governance, and risk management, as well as other business-oriented legal functions that facilitate strategic expansion and ensure operational excellence. Katherine previously served as Vice President and General Counsel at Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she led legal strategy across a complex healthcare enterprise. Earlier in her career, she served as General Counsel and Compliance Officer for AdvancedMD, a national healthcare IT company, and held in-house roles at Intermountain Healthcare and Providence Health & Services/Swedish Health Services, advising across the full spectrum of operational, regulatory, and strategic matters. She holds a JD with Honors, with a concentration in Health Law, from the University of Washington School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science from the University of Utah. She is an active member of The Florida Bar and an inactive member of the Washington and Utah bars.

Vicky Oxley
Vice President of Marketing
Vicky Oxley has over 25 years of experience in sales and marketing across global healthcare companies: DePuy (Johnson & Johnson), Biomet, and Zimmer Biomet. Vicky is a marketing executive with deep expertise in medical device, biologics, and regenerative medicine markets. Most recently, Vicky was the Director of Marketing for surgical products at BioTissue. Vicky has expertise in driving revenue growth, market expansion, and portfolio optimization across the US and International markets. A proven leader in M&A integration, start-up and high-growth environments, and commercialization of clinically differentiated products. Vicky received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Lita Lilly, RN, BSN
Vice President of Sales
Lita Lilly joined BioStem in December of 2025. She’s a proven healthcare executive with over 25 years of industry experience in Wound Care and Biologics and an Army Nurse Corp. veteran who builds high performing sales, clinical and national account teams through collaborative leadership that produces engagement and productivity across the organization. Lita’s leadership delivers proven results in driving sales growth in mature as well as start-up businesses and launching new products to achieve targeted growth while building new prescribers, clinical customers and C-Suite relationships. Lita creates vision, drives transformation and develops growth strategies to achieve sustainable business growth while providing professional development for internal teams.
