Explore the BioRetain difference
Advanced Tissue Preservation
BioStem’s proprietary BioRetain process preserves more of the essential cytokines, growth factors, and elements of the extracellular matrix, as compared to other Dehydrated Human Amnion/Chorion Membrane (DHACM) products.1
The patented six-step BioRetain process is gentle, minimally invasive, and preserves the natural integrity of perinatal tissue to optimizes retention of growth factors and cytokines found in native tissue.
Minimally Damaging Disinfection

- Submerged in a solution
- Reduces bioburden
Manual Hematopoietic Reduction

- Blood and undesirable components are removed by hand
- No scraping/scrubbing to preserve membrane structure
Cold Isotonic Cleansing

- A series of washes in clean, low-temperature, isotonic solution
- Stirring removes debris while minimizing tissue and growth factor breakdown
- No harsh chemicals
Gentle and Gradual Dehydration

- Slow drying of the membrane
- Preserves tissue structure and growth factors
- Others freeze or use high temperatures
Precise Cutting Die Placement

- Precise placement of cutting dies
- Ensures optimal tissue quality for each allograft
Terminal Sterilization

- Grafts are individually packaged
- Terminally sterilized with electron beam
Unmatched Integrity
BioRetain gently preserves the intrinsic qualities of nature’s tissue.
TAKE A LOOK INSIDE AN AMNION/CHORION (AC) MEMBRANE ALLOGRAFT:
H&E (Hematoxylin and Eosin) stain highlights a full-thickness extracellular matrix structure and nuclei (trophoblasts).
Amnion/Chorion Membrane
H&E Stain-stains nuclei purple and extracellular matrix pink.

Why Retain the Intermediate Layer?
Unlike some other DHACM products, BioRetain-processed AC preserves the intermediate layer between the Amnion and Chorion. The intermediate layer includes more of the naturally occurring molecular factors that are inherent to the native tissue.
BioRetain-processed full-thickness AC (RE-AC), tissue histology shows the detailed retention of structure and matrix components as compared to native tissue.

Laboratory Testing Results
BioRetain processing focuses on safety and preservation of all layers of Amniotic Membrane (AM) to optimize the retention of growth factors, cytokines, and natural structural components found in fresh tissue.2
